My name is Marshal, and I am a gay artist with a love and passion for Provincetown inspired art. I'm so glad you're here! Your support and purchase will help me continue to create paintings and prints for Ptown admirers, Cape Cod travelers, and art collectors like you! 😁 I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoy creating it. Feel free to reach out with any questions, express interest in contracting me for your creative vision, or whatever comes to mind! Would love to hear from you.
You'll often see me around Ptown photographing the beautiful homes, unique businesses, and breathtaking landscapes. I call this activity curbing! I use these photos as my reference to create watercolor paintings and giclée prints for all to enjoy! Follow me on Instagram and Facebook @curbing.art I like to think of Curbing Art as a way to stay connected to the community in-between visits. I enjoy sharing curb appeal inspired by Provincetown, and especially enjoy painting iconic scenes to inspire nostalgia. 🎨
This was a leap of faith, as it was the first time I chose to displayed my artwork for the purpose of selling it, outside of friends and family! PAAM holds their annual online silent auction, I remember thinking to myself, “It’s okay if it doesn’t sell”. To my surprise the painting had multiple bids and ultimately sold for much more than I could have ever hoped! This was the start of curbing art. The interest in and support for my watercolor paintings and prints has been astounding, I am so grateful! ❤️
My prints are carried locally in Provincetown at the beautiful shop Botanica. My work has also been on display at the Provincetown Commons and the Provincetown Art Association & Museum, better known as PAAM. I partake in their annual Members’ 12x12 online auction fundraiser every summer. I especially enjoy being part of the community with like-minded artists as I strive to give back to the community however I can. 🎨
When I reflect on the essence of Pride, my mind always comes back to the iconic Pilgrim Monument. As you arrive, there it stands—the embodiment of history and hope—whether you approach by land or sea. I tried to capture this vibrant heartbeat of Ptown in “Monumental Pride”. It’s not just watercolor on paper, it’s a celebration to the place where I feel most at home. A place that will forever hold a cherished spot in my heart. My hope is that “Monumental Pride” will resonate with all who seek connection, acceptance, and the joy of being exactly who they are. 🎨
I'm a watercolor artist creating Provincetown inspired paintings. I revisited watercolor painting quite unexpectedly in the beginning of 2020, a surprising twist in my otherwise art-free adult life. A year into my rekindled passion I realized that watercolor painting is what I want to do, but faced the question of turning a hobby into a side hustle. 👨🎨
No! While often mistaken to be a full-time Ptownie resident, I only dream to someday live in Provincetown year-round. For now, my husband and I are fortunate to live very close by in Connecticut allowing us to frequently visit throughout the year. My paintings reflect my love for Ptown, and you can be assured each piece represents the most iconic scenes throughout town. If you have a travel question relating to Provincetown, feel free to drop me a line. I love talking Ptown!😁
I especially appreciate it when a customer submits a review or sends me photos of my work in their homes. Here’s an excerpt of a recent review that really stood out to me. “For several years I had been looking for a watercolor artist to paint a specific size and scene of Provincetown for me. I was in Botanica one day and saw some paintings in the style I was looking for. The owners of Botanica put me in touch with the artist, Marshal Walden (Curbing.Art) and the rest is history. Marshal brought my vision to life even better than I imagined. The painting far exceeded my expectations.” 🤩
Provincetown is a huge inspiration for my artwork and has been a great way to keep connected with the community in-between visits. It wasn’t until the summer of 2022 that I learned about an artist fundraiser hosted by the Provincetown Art Association & Museum, better known as PAAM. After touring the museum and hearing about their involvement with the artist community, I was inspired to submit a painting to their annual Members’ 12x12 Exhibition. This was a leap of faith, as it was the first time I chose to displayed my artwork for the purpose of selling it, outside of friends and family! It’s an online silent auction and I remember thinking to myself, “It’s okay if it doesn’t sell”. To my surprise the painting had multiple bids and ultimately sold for much more than I could have hoped! 🖌️
Curbing Art owes its existence to the unwavering love and steadfast support of my incredible husband, Brandon. His encouragement has been my compass, guiding me toward my passion, encouraging me to seize opportunities, and daring me to dream beyond measure. For this, my gratitude knows no bounds! ❤️
